What product should I buy?

You can easily manage your legal requirements with the equipment listed below. You may require a sound level meter, personal dosebadges and a noise nuisance recorder under certain circumstances.

Personal Dosebadges for individual workers are recommended in any noisy environment e.g. a factory or entertainment venue.

Personal and Intrinsically Safe DoseBadges

The doseBadge is a unique solution for Personal Noise measurements. The new CR:100B version of the doseBadge provides not only the measurements essential for compliance with Occupational Noise regulations, but with the new RC:100B Reader unit it can store up to 24 hours of LAeq Time History data including Peak(C) and Overload exceedences. In addition to the new hardware, a suite of software is available to support the new features and functions.

The CR:110AIS is a Personal Noise Dosemeter with Intrinsic Safety Certification. It carries ATEX and EEx approval for both Group II (Non-Mining Applications) and Group I (Mining Applications). Intrinsic Safety refers to equipment and wiring that is inherently safe. In other words, an Intrinsically Safe system is one with energy levels so low that they cannot cause an explosion. Any equipment that is sold in the EU which is designed to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres must carry an ATEX Approval. The relevant Directive has been mandatory for all equipment of this type being sold in the European Union from the 1st July 2003.

CR: 303

The CR:303 is a simple, robust Sound Level Meter designed for applications where a quick check of the noise levels is required. The instrument displays Fast Sound Level in dB(A) and has a measurement range of 35dB(A) to 135dB(A). A maximum hold function is also provided to hold the highest reading that the instrument displays.

• Ideal for simple checks and assessments.
• Does not provide measurement of Leq or Peak(C), so not suitable for compliance with Noise at Work Regulations in the EU.

CR: 270 series

The CR:270 series is a range of instruments designed for the measurement of industrial and environmental noise levels.

The instruments are capable of measuring Leq (Average Noise Level) and Peak levels, with the parameters being calculated simultaneously. They provide the measurement of both A and C weighted levels.

• Allows prescription of hearing defenders using the HML method.
• CR:274 and CR:273 instruments have the addition of internal octave band filters and dB(Lin), which allow the use of the Octave Band method for the accurate selection of hearing protection.
• Suitable for compliance with Noise at Work Regulations in the EU.

CR: 800B series

The CR:800B is a range of high performance Integrating Averaging Sound Level Meters that provide the functions and features demanded by modern measurement standards and guidelines. It includes all of the measurements required by the Noise at Work Regulations, as well as for general noise assessments and surveys. The CR:800B can also be used with an outdoor measurement kit for Environmental noise measurements.
